Appointments

Urgent appointments

If you think you need to be seen today, phone us as soon after 8am as possible.

  • phone us on 01751 431254, Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm
  • visit the surgery and speak to a receptionist, Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm
  • request an appointment online — we usually respond within 3 working days, so use this option for less urgent problems

When you get in touch, we’ll ask what you need help with. We will use the information you give us to choose the most suitable doctor, nurse or other healthcare professional to help you.

You may be offered:

  • a telephone appointment with an urgent care practitioner from our Primary Care Network team
  • an appointment with a doctor that day
  • an appointment with a nurse that day
  • telephone advice from a doctor

It may not be possible to speak to your usual doctor.

Routine appointments

You can book a routine appointment up to 4 weeks in advance. Appointments are usually 15 minutes. If you have more than one problem to discuss, tell the receptionist so we can book a longer appointment.

  • phone us on 01751 431254, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5pm
  • visit the surgery and speak to a receptionist, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5pm
  • request an appointment online — we usually respond within 3 working days

Your appointment

However you contact us, we may offer you a consultation:

  • by phone
  • face to face at the surgery
  • by video call
  • by text or email

Cancelling or changing an appointment

Please let us know as soon as possible if you cannot make your appointment, so we can offer it to someone else.

If you need help when we are closed

If you need medical help now, use NHS 111 online or call 111.

NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.

Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.

If you need help with your appointment

Please tell us:

  • if there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond
  • if you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face to face, by video call or by text or email
  • if you need an interpreter
  • if you have any other access or communication needs

Home visits

If you are housebound and need an appointment, we will do a home visit. Please try to phone reception before 10am if you need a home visit.

A doctor or nurse may phone you back first, to understand what you need and help plan the order of visits. Home visits should only be requested for patients who are housebound because of illness or disability — we can usually see more patients, more quickly, at the surgery.

Getting help travelling to an appointment

If you need help getting to the surgery, contact Ryedale Community Transport (tel. 01653 699059).

If you think you are eligible for patient transport for hospital appointments, contact Yorkshire Ambulance Service on 0300 330 2000. Surgery staff cannot arrange this on your behalf, as eligibility is assessed by the ambulance service.
